From 1st January 2011, the Federal Government introduced the Paid Parental Leave scheme to replace the old Baby Bonus system.
Given the Baby Bonus was tax-free and available to everyone, I wondered whether we were any better off with a taxed system of parental leave which was means tested. Particularly those receiving either Part A or Part B Family Tax Benefits or both- were we really getting more?
After a bit of searching I came across this calculator on the Centrelink website which will actually tell you how much better of you will be under the new scheme compared with the old one.
